I have little reference on the place of homosexuality in society other than religious scriptures but I'm not very religiously biased & believe all people have a right to live as they please so I, naturally, came up with an analysis.
The top four countries with the biggest gay populations are said to be 1) USA, 2) Thailand, 3) Brazil & 4) South Africa according to this suspicious source on Yahoo. It seems suspicious but probably does have a ring of truth. Note that multicultural countries do tend to have more homosexuals in their population for a much darker reason than we assume. Traumatic events in a country or individuals history tend to lead to homosexuality if not thoroughly analysed, identified & cured.
What we should do more often as people is psychoanalyse where homosexuality comes from & use historical sources to find it's real purpose in our societies. I feel this should be done now more than ever because of the recent outbreak of the monkeypox disease in various places around the world & media claiming it spreads more among men who have sex with men. Many find men having sex with men disgusting & something that just should not be done but we live in a world of liberty & a world where people feel like they have a right to do as they please because of globalisation. The fact that homosexuality is so taboo to discuss shows there's something innate in our humanity that disapproves of it to some extent. We must ask what homosexuality is & what purpose does it serve. Homosexuality from my perspective is simply transformed hatred, it is hatred of one's environment to the extent that it corrupts the natural mind. Homosexuality often does come from trauma & an individual trying to understand why a traumatic event happened & this leads to a persistent dislike (even hate) of their environment. This hate goes unresolved & as the individual needs to go on with life, frustrations that come with life only make the burden heavier. When this burden can no longer be carried, it collapses the typical functioning of the mind including sexuality. As an astronomy fan, I can't help but compare this to how a black hole is formed. The gravity that causes a black hole is so immense that it transforms into an almost "unworldly" object that bends the laws of physics & questions what astronomers know of the universe. I believe that not only is homosexuality of much greater depth than just a man wearing pink, acting feminine & "loving" other men. It is inherently corrupt in it's nature because of it's origin & the fact that it has no real pro-human purpose.
Homosexuality in history:
The bible condemns a few things in the beginning of Genesis before the teachings of the Law of Moses. It condemns disobeying God, murder, disobeying or disrespecting elders, multiculturalism (Babylon) & Sodom & Gomorrah (homosexuality). The only other example in history of homosexuality that I can think of is the two homosexual Roman emperors & some homosexual (lesbian) Greek societies. Being someone who is very suspicious of many things, I even suspect that the Middle-East's deserts & especially, the Sahara desert were caused by multicultural collisions & because transport wasn't as efficient there was no homosexuality because hate could not build enough to cause homosexuality when a people are separated by desert. As though the Sahara desert was God's doing to prevent different people's from mingling.
So how should society treat the explosion of homosexuals in communities in this globalised world? Personally, I feel "coming out" should cease to exist & should not be a necessity. In a world with smartphones & decreasing privacy, I believe the individual should ultimately live their own life & whether the individual chooses to live their lives publicly or privately is up to them. In my benevolent dictatorship, homosexuals would not be required to reveal whether they are homosexual but be free to live their lives as they wish without infringing other people's human rights & concept of decency. This may help prevent stigmatizing gay individuals to the extent that they feel they need to convert impressionable people into being gay.
Homosexuality in the Xhosa community of South Africa.
Some may wonder why there seems to be a large population of homosexuals within the Xhosa community because they assume Xhosas are a homogeneous nation. History says otherwise, the Xhosa are not in truth a homogeneous nation. There are many Xhosa-speaking peoples who are not Xhosa by tracing their ancestry. So indeed, the Xhosa are a multicultural nation &, suprise, there's a desert separating the Khoi lands of the Western Cape & Xhosa people. My understanding of who is Xhosa would be any people who were either Xhosa speaking or Xhosa subjects by the year 1700; this definition would exclude various Xhosa-speaking tribes such as the Mpondo, Tembu, Hlubi, Zizi & Bhaca who did not speak Xhosa in the 1700s & only settled south of the Umtamvuna River by the late 1810s & early 1820s. The original Xhosa nation that lived between the Sundays River & Umzimvubu River were already made of two separate identities which are the Khoi & south Umzimvubu Nguni people. So they started out diverse & only got more diverse in the 1800s by the various tribes that came from northern KZN. Like I mentioned before, multicultural "nations" tend to have higher populations of homosexuals. This is evident in the fact that the only mainstream film exclusively focusing on homosexuality in South Africa (Inxeba) has been in the Xhosa language.
Developed nations have a higher tolerance for homosexuality because it is likely not as common as underdeveloped countries who are very often multicultural. The equation though, is not underdeveloped country = homosexuality + multiculturalism but rather developed country = more national unity (multiculturalism overcomed) + less room for hatred to become homosexuality (i. e. high HDI). It is culture rather than wealth that causes homosexuality.
