How a language survives.
There are some languages I genuinely do envy because they have words for everything & are vibrant in every aspect. These languages have a board that ensures the language has a word for everything & it is written correctly. What I, genuinely, appreciate about Arabic & Far East Asian languages is that they're not so easily diluted because they have their own distinct writing system. Even though Arabic has become a little diluted by north Africans who speak French, Italian, Spanish & English - it's not as extreme as languages who use the Latin writing system.
Languages that borrow words from other languages, borrow writing systems & don't have a board that regulates the language usually fade after time. They become almost pidginized & no longer spoken in the original form so lose respect.
Radio
I, genuinely, enjoy radio. I've been listening to radio - frequently - for a long time. I think it's almost a nuisance to listen to now because they're tracking who listens to the radio station & a national service becomes awkwardly personal for no real reason. If this is going to be the case, we may as well, at least, have 24-hour music genre dedicated radio stations just so listeners can still enjoy radio without Sipho being case studied because the radio tracked that there's a guy called Sipho in Welkom eating fish that the radio host or radio show producer wishes to taste. What is that? The fact that this happens is annoying to me. These music genre-specific radio stations would require no radio show hosts, just programme producers who'll play music & maybe a news reader for hourly news.
I often listen to talk radio because of the topics, I often care little whether I can be associates with the radio host (or their guests) because they don't exist in my world, I don't listen to radio because I like or don't like the host either. I take it that the radio host has a job to broadcast to the country not just to some guy in Ntabazwe. If the radio is going to broadcast to Sipho in Welkom then we may as well all tune out so the radio host can express their views directly to Sipho since Sipho is so unusual that he doesn't have a phone to be called on to direct personal concerns to. It's really weird. The radio show host mustn't use their show as something to call out someone they have "beef" with, it's unprofessional. Especially, for a talk show host. If they do that, listeners tune out.
So, for obvious reasons, radio mustn't get personal. If it does, let's get rid of the unprofessionalism by simply ridding radio hosts from some newly created radio stations & just playing music all day (24 hours) like the famous Classic FM, Lounge FM & House music radio stations of the world.
