The REAL problem with South Africa & things you can do as an individual to change things for the better.
There are hideous crimes against humanity being done on a daily basis in South Africa but we laugh it off because "South Africa is better than Africa"... when I look at the streets of South Africa, I wonder how much better we really are compared to the rest of Africa.
Inequality & crime in South Africa is among Top 10 worst in the world in global stats. Yes, South Africa is all vibrant & diverse but is it really that much better than other African countries? If so, why are Usonians choosing Ghana & Tanzania to go live? Not that I'm in any desperate need for Usonians to flock to South Africa but I understand why expats (who often do research on countries they're going to) don't choose South Africa.
I remember how a European lady who lived in one of the said "poorest countries in Africa" then came to live in South Africa mentioned how the "poor African country" she lived in before, despite not having much, was better to live in than South Africa.
The problem with South Africa & it's leadership is that we're too concerned about money so we do our choices based on what's financially beneficial to ourselves, this trickles down to the public on the street & virtually everything including religion & morality becomes about money. Of course, money is important for modern life but when pursuing wealth prevents you from doing your will & becomes an obsession, it almost becomes self-defeating. Like the thoroughbred horse with it's testicles tied to a noose analogy I once used in one of my blogs. Our leaders are so afraid of losing their wealth that even if something is against their morals, they'll do it because they want more wealth. Career politicians is what journalists call them.
When a country is based on how much money it's political leaders must get & not national vision or the people's will, many things can go wrong. Such leaders can sell their people off to rich foreigners, even unknowingly, in their pursuit of wealth.
When you try to act plumber & clear up the shit clog, you're ostracized & treated like a troublemaker. So what is there to do? No one is brave enough to 1) stage a coup & run the country "through the barrel of the gun" like the EFF once said, so the next best step is to 2) go into politics yourself & walk on eggshells all your life hoping to not step on South Africa's rich white elite's toes while trying to implement your ideologies. The other option is simply 3) leave South Africa. That's it. Those are the only three choices you have as an individual to save your livelihood in South Africa.
I live in South Africa, not just one part of South Africa, I've experienced diverse societies & lifestyles in South Africa. You can't fool me with these "ike e xarra ke" & "Alive with possibility" slogans. I know what's going on in this country. I'm not saying I'm the only one with solutions but I have the most foolproof solutions because of the path I travelled. We all want to live in the best country possible, myself included.
