We live in a world that seems unable to live without plastic but I have a "survivist" mentality & believe that if something is harming you, you can simply live without it. It sounds like simple commonsense now that I've put it in words but people don't seem to care what commonsense is today. I also believe that the world can live without plastic & other unspecified oil products even if capitalists would disagree. If we live in a world without oil, humanity is obviously going to need more electricity for vehicles & devices like solar-powered buses, trains & lawnmowers... which may cause other kinds of pollution themselves but, it is better to solve the bigger, present danger first, which is plastic pollution, by finding less polluting alternatives than just be nihilist & claim "Everything pollutes anyway."
My solutions are:
1) We need to make state-sponsored plastic recycling companies, whose sole purpose is to sort anything plastic & recycle it. These companies should simply be defunct only when plastic is nowhere to be seen. We've seen roads, shoes etc. being made from plastic. In fact,
2) it must be legislated that we have a plastic trash bag section included in our infrastructure. And, ofcourse, we know people being people won't use this correctly so the main garbage collection field needs to have a plastic & non-plastic sorting department also.
3) Lastly, BAN SINGLE USE PLASTIC. Many African countries have done this & I think the Empire of South Africa with it's many countries should follow.
We've seen news headlines of microplastics being found in the human body & plastic found in the deepest part of the oceans. If you act when the danger is still small, you have a better chance of defeating it.
